Original oil painting 16x20” on wood panel. This piece speaks to the comfort and strength the artist feels in knowing her ancestors are with her in this life, by her side through the challenges she might face. The hummingbirds being a representation of that (both in a lot of Latino cultures but also a personal experience of a hummingbird coming to her family at her grandmother’s funeral). Also the braids and cactus are a nod to culture, heritage, and the land we are raised on. 🪽✨🪶
